Yakhiya’take’nhas Yukwahwatsilay^tu Supportive Housing
Yakhiya’take’nhas Yukwahwatsilay^tu is a transitional housing program for Indigenous women and their dependent children who are experiencing violence or homelessness or are at risk. It provides support as these women and children transition to safe and secure housing.
Youth Diversion and Cultural Support
The Youth Diversion worker will support Indigenous youth (16-24 years) who are at risk or experiencing any form of homelessness. The primary role of the Youth Diversion worker is to support Indigenous Youth with various forms of diversion such as connection to Indigenous culture as intervention to homelessness while implementing intense housing focused case management.
YWCA St Thomas-Elgin's Settlement Services
Supports newcomers in the community with settlement planning, language training, employment counselling, and connections to housing and social services.
YWCA St. Thomas Elgin's Youth Independence Program
A 10-week classroom-based course for youth aged 16-24 that teaches life-skills, mental wellness, budgeting, job-searching and independent living, plus a dedicated program coordinator who helps with employment readiness, apartment hunting and connecting with community supports.
Zhaawanong 24-Hr Emergency Women's Shelter
Zhaawanong Shelter provides emergency shelter and support for Indigenous women and their children who are at risk of violence, abuse, and/or homelessness.
Zhaawenjigewag Justice Program
The Zhawenjigewag program provides culture-based peacemaking services to Indigenous families to strengthen and heal their relationships. Zhawenjigewag Inawemaaganag, in the Ojibwe language, describes “A process of reaching peace with relatives."
